March Newsletter

The groundhog was right! It seems we are in for an early spring with temperatures this week rising into the 60s.

In March, our Virtue-of-the-Month is Mercy, which means to show compassion to those who may have done us wrong, to one whom we may consider as an enemy, or to those over whom one has power. Mercy extends graciousness to those who, strictly speaking “deserve” much less. It is closely related to forgiveness and acts to reduce or end the distress of others.

This month we kick off our sixteenth Race for Education, our spring fundraiser. The actual Race Day will be held on Friday, April 26. Look for the notice about this later this month. We appreciate your support of past events and look forward to a great success in this year’s effort as well. This year the results for this activity will be used to continue to provide a quality education at an affordable tuition.

To update you, our Planning Team is continuing the self-study process which we began last spring to prepare for re-accreditation. A visiting team from Middle States Association, the accreditation agency, will be coming to the school in the fall to conduct a weeklong observation. Our tentative Plan for Growth & Improvement that we will present to the team is to work on developing further students’ reading and writing, augment our child protection policies and procedures, and to develop the school’s Parent-Teacher Organization. We welcome parental input on any of these plans.

Please note that our spring break this year starts with Good Friday on March 29 and continues through the following week, April 1-5. Upon returning, April 8, you may begin to re-enroll your children for the next school year. If you do so by April 30, you will receive a 50% discount off the $100 registration fee.

FYI, the school is holding virtual Open Houses the last Wednesday every month, 7:00-8:00 pm. These are good chances for you to invite any prospective parents you may know who are looking for a good quality private school for their children for the next school year. Tell them about the best kept secret in Clifton: your child’s school! The Zoom link for each event can be found under “Events” on our website: newhopeschoolnj.com.

Have a great spring!
