March Newsletter

Did you know that in Russia March 1st is considered the first day of spring? With the snow this morning, more snow expected tonight, and a dip in temperatures predicted for next week, here it seems that we’re in for a continuing winter. Stay bundled up and warm!

Congratulations to fifth grader Kenji Onishi for winning this year’s school spelling bee! His winning word was samurai. This year’s runner up was third grader Jinsun Consoro.

The Virtue-of-the-Month for March is Compassion. This is an important virtue for building a true community. It requires that we move in the difficult direction of otherness, of getting beyond ourselves and being sensitive to the situation of others. Compassion means sensing the distress and needs of our friends and neighbors and acting on their behalf. Community service is the natural expression of compassion.

At next Friday’s assembly we will have a kickoff for our twelfth annual Race for Education. Look for the folder that will be given to all the students. We appreciate your support of past events and look forward to a great success in this year’s effort as well. This year the results for this activity will be used to improve our facility, both inside and outside, especially our playground area.

We wish to invite you to re-register your child(ren) for the next school year starting the month of March. A folder will be sent out early next week. Those who do so by April 12th will receive a 50% discount off the $100 registration fee.

In addition, in March we are planning to hold an Open House on March 27, 6:00-7:30pm, for prospective parents. This is a good chance for you to invite anyone you may know who is looking for a good quality private school for their children for the next school year, whether they be your relatives, friends, neighbors, or work colleagues. Tell them about the best kept secret in Clifton: your child’s school! In addition, look for our school’s new promotional video, coming soon to our website.

Finally, you are welcome to sign up your child for our 10-week martial arts class, which will begin on Tuesday, March 19. As usual, the fee for the class is $120.

God bless you all!
